Questions about Visiting
Can individuals stay in the Hall?
Yes, we welcome groups and individuals. We offer a choice of full board, half board or B and B terms.
What are the check in and check out times?
Rooms are available from 4.00pm on arrival day and we ask that you vacate your room by 10.00am on the day or your departure. If you wish to stay longer to enjoy the grounds then we are happy to store your luggage.
Are towels provided?
Yes, along with soap.
Can I book the Hall and/or Emmaus for sole use by my group?
If you book all 29 bedrooms in the hall you will ensure no other residential group is booked into the hall with you. However, there is the possibility that we will book a day conference in one of the meeting rooms whilst your event is going on. If you want to guarantee sole use of the hall you would need to pay extra costs for the sole use of all the meeting rooms each day (this costs apx £350 per day extra). We only allow one group to use the Emmaus Centre at a time and we have a minimum booking requirement of 15 people to reserve the Emmaus Centre.
How many can be accommodated in the Hall?
There are 29 bedrooms consisting of a combination of double, twin and single bedrooms (all with ensuite). If single occupancy of bedrooms is required, the maximum number of residents that can be accommodated is 29. For groups consisting of friends and families sharing rooms we can offer 55 bed spaces plus travel cots and foldaway beds. Occasionally we host residential conferences with a maximum of 115 by including our self-catering accommodation, the Emmaus Centre. On these occasions guests in the Emmaus Centre will take their meals in the Hall with the rest of the conference group.
What is the capacity of the various meeting rooms?
We have a number of meeting rooms suitable for many kinds of events. Our informal and relaxed atmosphere lends itself to conferences, and house-party style group events. We regularly host events for artists, walkers and spiritual retreats. The number of seats possible in each room depends very much on the configuration. The Large Chapel can seat up to 100. The Conference Room can seat up to 50, Room 5 (upstairs meeting room) can seat up to 20. The Library seats about 15 people. We also have small rooms suitable for private meetings for 2-4 people.
Do you have facilities for those with limited mobility?
Because this is a very old building it’s simply not possible to ensure that all areas are accessible to those with limited mobility. However, we have one ground floor single bedroom with a fully accessible wet room. It is possible to have 2 people in this room, but not if wide ranging access for a wheelchair is also needed. In addition to this we do have a number of first floor bedrooms that can be accessed from a seated chair lift. All our public rooms are accessible to those with limited mobility.
Can we bring dogs to the Hall?
Because of guest allergies we are not able to allow dogs in the Hall or the Emmaus Centre (apart from guide dogs by prior arrangement) but dogs are welcome on short leads in the grounds.
